Don't be a besserwisser

Ugh, how I hate a besserwisser...they think they know everything best and when they get countered, they become condescending and downright rude.

It's okay that you can be very knowledgeable about a subject or an issue, but when it comes to something abstract or general, there's never an easy or right answer.

You can never know how other people perceive an event, a statement or interpret a text, everyone has their own highly personal experience.

Communication is a difficult art and can cause a lot of misunderstandings and disagreements. Being a good listener is important for communication to work. 

I personally come across people on a daily basis who don't have this ability and it creates unnecessary frustration. Sometimes I wonder why people ask me about things when they have already decided on the answer, ie. their own opinion, and then they completely and demonstratively ignore my response...highly annoying...

No wonder there are conflicts everywhere when people don't listen to or understand other views than their own.

Conveying information or instructions is among the most difficult things one can attempt to do. You have to twist and turn every formulation to try to avoid someone being able to misinterpret and misunderstand. There is probably nothing more difficult than explaining a complicated approach in a simple and clear way so that everyone understands.

On the other hand, it's highly doubtful if my uneven babbling here is comprehensible to anyone other than myself...so probably it's just as well to finish.
