I have previously written about appearance fixation and the problems that result from it. For many, this unfortunately is something they think about 24/7 (see what I did there...lol..).
Here comes another post on the subject...

In various areas, people have opened up and started talking about mental illness. In the world of fashion and among influencers and not least in sports.

Especially young people's desire to look like their idols and also their belief that you have to look a certain way to be accepted and noticed often goes to such extremes that they start to feel bad, and even develop severe depression, due to stress and dissatisfaction of their appearance.

In sports your weight is always an issue and there are many, both boys and girls, who develops anorexia or bulimia due to the constant stress and pressure from trainers of not gaining weight.

Popular influencers and celebrities with millions of followers on Instagram, YouTube etc. sets the template for what girls should look like to be successful. A template that is unattainable for most people who are not filthy rich and have access to a staff of stylists and make up artists who every morning make sure you look perfect.

Stress over weight and appearance and constantly failing self-confidence make many young people feel bad psychologically, which is so totally unnecessary in my opinion.

Of course, we all want to look as good as possible, but one wishes that the appearance was based on one's natural conditions instead of constantly trying to copy others.

It also doesn't help that women who have reached a mature age try to do everything to rejuvenate themselves with all kinds of beauty procedures.

More and more young women are using plastic surgery and Botox, often without thinking. Most procedures cannot be undone if you regret it. There are also many fraudsters in plastic surgery, people who only see the financial gain.

So an important wish is for society at large to stop focusing so much on appearance. Unfortunately, this especially applies to men who seem to have a hard time holding back comments about women's appearance, whether they are criticism or slimy compliments.

It's very liberating when you now see selfies of young girls without excessive make-up and without pouty lips and instead see selfies with girls without make-up, unretouched and without any beautifying filters. Strong, beautiful girls with the confidence enough to show what they really look like. Why can't the natural look become the new trend? #naturalbeauty

My final, and typically old fashioned and goofy words on this subject this time is:

  • Make the best of what you have, and always be yourself.
  • Never compare yourself to anyone else, see your own advantages and feel free to highlight them, but not by means of surgical procedures.
  • Love the odd and ignore the template, be special and stand out in the crowd instead of being invisible in the mass where everyone looks alike.

This is how you make an impression, gain self-confidence and feel good about yourself, because everyone is beautiful in their own way....

XOXO
