Dreams & Goals

What could a 50+ something woman, with multiple illnesses possibly have to strive for in terms of dreams and goals? Hmm…good question….

I firmly believe that you should always set new goals, have new dreams and strive to constantly improve your life, and age or disability has absolutely nothing to do with it. A person without goals and dreams is someone who's either unhappy, bored and blasé or someone who's lost his way in life and has just given up.

I've set up some minor goals that are vital to accomplish two of my dreams, to manage to travel abroad to some of my dream destinations and to set up a professional crafts studio for my recycling project.

These minor goals all has to do with improving my health. I will boost my motivation to start eating healthier and stick with it, and also to exercise on a daily basis (and hopefully stick with that too).

I've also changed my main healthcare provider and I now meet my specialists at a new and recently opened health centre nearby. This will hopefully make my healthcare contacts much more concentrated and frequent which will make the monitoring of progress or setbacks easier and adjustments of medications etc. will be faster.

I'm determined to reach my goals and it doesn't matter how long it takes. The bumpy road to my dreams will become a test of my willpower and a useful experience whatever the result will be....

So you see, I have goals and dreams still at my age and despite my condition, maybe not so flashy and fancy but good enough for me.

"Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly
Hold fast to dreams
For hen dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow"

-Langston Hughes- (1902-1967)
